An agentic security engineer that reads a codebase and its AI agents, then fixes what it finds
Trent AI was founded in 2025 in London by Eno Thereska, previously a distinguished engineer at Alcion, AWS, and Confluent; Neil Lawrence, DeepMind Professor of Machine Learning at Cambridge and formerly director of machine learning at Amazon; and Zhenwen Dai, previously a machine learning scientist at AWS and senior research manager at Spotify. The company emerged from stealth in April 2026 with a $13M seed round backed by LocalGlobe and Cambridge Innovation Capital, alongside angels from OpenAI, AWS, Databricks, and Spotify. It was named a winner in The Hacker News Cybersecurity Stars Awards 2026.
The product is positioned as a security engineer for teams that are shipping AI agents without a security function to match. It ingests application code in any language, infrastructure definitions, configuration and scripts, CI automations, existing security reports, and the specifications of the agents themselves, including which tools and models they can reach. From that it produces an inventory of software and services with the attack surface each one exposes, a threat and vulnerability analysis covering prompt injection, unintended tool use, data exfiltration, and privilege escalation, and mappings to compliance frameworks. Remediation arrives as contextual fixes and prompts a coding assistant can execute, with an audit trail confirming what was changed.
