Security Guardrail APIs for AI Applications

Pangea provides API-first security guardrails for generative AI applications, operating as a Security Platform as a Service (SPaaS). The company delivers a suite of composable security APIs, including AI Guard, Prompt Guard, AI Access Control, and AI Visibility. It’s designed to protect AI systems from threats such as prompt injection, sensitive data leakage, malicious content, and unauthorized data access.

Pangea’s platform is tailored for modern AI architectures, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and agentic frameworks. Its pre-built APIs cover essential security functions: audit logging, fine-grained RBAC/ABAC authorization, malware detection, authentication, and risk-adaptive access controls. AI Guard prevents data exfiltration and blocks harmful or unwanted generative outputs, while Prompt Guard mitigates prompt injection and other generative AI-specific threats.

The system enables organizations to centrally manage data access and policy enforcement across AI systems, dynamically adapting to evolving threat landscapes. Security teams can configure real-time controls that automatically apply protective rules based on contextual risk signals, keeping sensitive information safe while maintaining high-velocity AI development.

Pangea raised $26 million in November 2022 in a Series B led by GV with participation from Decibel and Okta Ventures, bringing the company’s total funds raised to $52 million. Ballistic Ventures and SYN Ventures were among the existing investors that joined the Series B.

In September 2025, CrowdStrike acquired Pangea for a reported $260 million.
