Browser-native security that governs how employees use generative AI and SaaS applications
Neon Cyber was founded in April 2024 by Cody Pierce and Mark St. John, who previously built AlphaWave, and is based in Fort Worth, Texas. It emerged from stealth in September 2025 with seed backing from Silverton Partners. The company's argument is that the browser is now where work happens and therefore where controls have to live: network and endpoint tooling sees a TLS connection to a domain, not the paragraph of customer data an employee pasted into a chatbot or the credential typed into a convincing lookalike login page. Rather than mandating an enterprise browser, Neon installs as an extension on browsers people already use.
Inside the session the extension inventories every AI tool and SaaS application in use, including the accounts provisioned outside identity management, and tracks vendor posture and adoption trends so security leaders can see what shadow AI actually looks like across the workforce. A small language model running against page content and user input evaluates intent in real time, which allows policies that block a specific paste of regulated data or a credential entry on an untrusted form without blanket-blocking a site. The same vantage point supports phishing detection and identity hygiene monitoring. The company targets mid-market and larger organizations in financial services, healthcare, and technology, selling to CISOs, SecOps, IT, and GRC teams.
