AI governance that monitors developer AI tool usage and enforces policy in the IDE

Most AI governance tooling sits at the network or gateway layer, which works for a chat window in a browser and not at all for a coding agent running in a terminal. Groovy Security places its control where the activity happens. Whiteout AI installs into the developer's environment and monitors AI assistant usage directly, reading Claude Code prompt history and Codex session activity as they are written, then scanning that content against the organisation's compliance policy. A violation produces feedback in the moment rather than a report a month later, and a status bar indicator keeps the developer aware of connection state and outstanding issues rather than leaving enforcement invisible.

The engineering details point at real deployment conditions. An offline queue buffers events with automatic retry when the backend is unreachable, so a developer on a plane is recorded rather than exempt, and proactive token refresh with sleep and wake detection keeps the agent authenticated across laptop lifecycles. The plugin is published for JetBrains IDEs through the marketplace, with the policy evaluation and audit trail held centrally so security and compliance teams get the organisation-wide view. Groovy Security was founded by Alexander Flowers, who serves as CEO, and is based in Utah. The company is early-stage and Whiteout AI has been offered through an early access programme.
