Full security stack rebuilt to run on premises, for air-gapped and sovereign environments
Cylake was founded at the beginning of 2026 by Nir Zuk, who founded Palo Alto Networks in 2005, together with Wilson Xu and Ehud Shamir. It emerged from stealth in March 2026 with a $45M seed round led by Greylock Partners, and in September 2026 closed a $245M convertible note with Lightspeed Venture Partners, Picture Capital, and Redpoint Ventures participating, taking total funding to roughly $290M. A beta is expected toward the end of 2026 with general availability planned for 2027. The company's market is organizations whose regulator, contract, or classification level forbids sending telemetry to an external cloud.
The premise is that the last decade of security platform engineering assumed elastic cloud storage and compute, and that porting those designs into a disconnected network produces a degraded version of the product rather than an equivalent one. Cylake's answer is to build the stack for on-premises operation from the hardware upward: one ingestion pipeline serves detection across security functions instead of each product collecting its own copy, the complete data set is retained locally in hot storage so forensic queries run against it at speed rather than against a rehydrated archive, and AI inference runs on local compute so investigations are explained in plain language without a call to a hosted model. Target customers include financial services firms, government agencies, and critical infrastructure operators.
