AI Agents for Autonomous Vulnerability Management

Cogent Security is an AI-native cybersecurity startup founded in 2024 and based in San Francisco, California. The company is focused on preventing breaches through fully autonomous AI systems that continuously monitor, analyze, and remediate security threats without human intervention. Cogent Security aims to unify intelligence across security tools, business systems, and opensource data to build a real-time, contextual understanding of an organization’s assets and risk posture.

At the core of Cogent Security’s platform is what it calls the AI Taskforce for Vulnerability Management, an autonomous engine that identifies, assesses, and responds to vulnerabilities continuously. Unlike traditional systems that rely on analysts to triage alerts and decide on actions, Cogent Security’s architecture is built to understand its operating environment and execute security tasks on its own. The platform correlates data from multiple sources, providing enhanced visibility into emerging vulnerabilities while reducing reliance on human security teams.

Cogent Security emerged from stealth in July 2025 with $11 million in seed capital from Greylock Partners, which also incubated Cogent via its Edge program. Greylock previously incubated Palo Alto Networks and Abnormal AI.

In February 2026, Cogent Security announced a $42 million Series A led by Bain Capital Ventures with participation from Greylock Partners and Definition. Other investors include founders and executives from OpenAI, Abnormal Security, and Datadog. Total funding now stands at $53 million.
