
Secure Wireless Data Links and Cryptographic IP Cores for Defense Platforms
BERTEN DSP is a privately held Spanish engineering company based in Santander, Cantabria, founded by engineers with backgrounds in aerospace, advanced electronics, embedded software and signal processing. It builds secure wireless communication systems and cryptographic security products for critical platforms, including military aircraft, unmanned systems, ground vehicles, naval vessels and stratospheric platforms. The buyer is a defence prime or systems integrator rather than an enterprise IT team, and the company holds EN 9100 aerospace quality certification alongside ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
The portfolio splits into two lines that draw on the same silicon expertise. Data links cover the StealthWave T2000 2x2 MANET-MIMO radio and the P-series transceivers, including L-band and Band IV tactical models, carrying broadband traffic over frequency-hopping spread-spectrum waveforms built for low probability of intercept and detection under high mobility. The cryptography side ships as synthesisable IP cores for FPGA, SoC and ASIC targets, portable across major FPGA families and supplied with AMBA AXI interfaces so integrators embed the primitives directly in their own designs.
Depth in post-quantum hardware is the clearest differentiator. ML-KEM key encapsulation to FIPS 203 and ML-DSA digital signatures to FIPS 204 are delivered as FIPS 140-3 compliant cores, paired with true random number generators validated against NIST 800-90B, AIS-31 PTG.2 and the NIST 800-22 statistical battery, plus an Owlet analyzer tool for testing RNG output.
