InsurSec Platform Pairing Cyber Insurance With Managed Security Services
Founded in 2016, At-Bay operates at the intersection of insurance and cybersecurity, selling cyber, technology errors and omissions, and miscellaneous professional liability coverage exclusively through insurance brokers to small and mid-market businesses. The company describes the model as InsurSec: a policy bundled with active security services rather than a purely financial backstop. It reports more than 35,000 policyholders across 100-plus industries, roughly 340 employees, and six offices spanning New York, Mountain View, Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and a Tel Aviv research hub.
The security side runs on Stance, a platform combining external vulnerability scanning, dark web monitoring, and an Exposure Manager view intended to rank an insured organization's weak points so remediation can be sequenced by likely impact. Layered on top are managed detection and response for endpoints, extended MDR across additional attack surfaces, AI-assisted email and fraud defense monitored by analysts around the clock, and on-demand advisory work including virtual CISO time, tabletop exercises, and employee security awareness training.
What separates the approach from a standalone MDR vendor is the feedback loop between underwriting and defense: the same risk assessment that prices a policy drives which exposures get flagged, and closing those gaps is meant to reduce claims. Published figures cite roughly 40,000 policyholders, 1.5 million monitored assets, about $60 billion of risk under management, and a 15-minute mean time to remediate. A Security Partner Network extends coverage through third-party tools rather than building every control in-house.
