
Utility-Preserving Tokenization for Sensitive Data Across AI and Analytics Workloads
Anonos builds data protection technology for organizations that need to use sensitive information without exposing it, primarily regulated enterprises in healthcare, finance, insurance, and banking. The company has operated since 2013 and was co-founded by Ted Myerson and Gary LaFever, who previously built FTEN, a real-time risk management system for financial institutions acquired by NASDAQ in 2010. Its flagship product, Data Embassy, targets analytics, AI, data sharing, and payments workloads constrained by privacy regulation and cross-border transfer rules.
The core mechanism is advanced tokenization that separates identity from information value. Rather than irreversibly anonymizing records, the platform generates distinct de-identifiers per purpose, time period, and location, so a token issued in one context cannot be used to relink data in another. Re-linking runs through a controlled store governed by policy, and disclosure rules are enforced at the edge rather than from a central gateway. Format-preserving tokens let downstream systems consume protected data without modification.
Delivery spans an on-premise platform, a REST tokenization API, and a CLI and Python SDK for embedding protection directly into existing data pipelines. Documented capabilities include automatic detection of more than 50 PII types, multi-table synthesis that preserves referential integrity, differential privacy, and real-time privacy and utility scoring. The vendor reports 30 issued patents and cites recognition as a World Economic Forum Global Innovator, a Gartner Cool Vendor, and a Frost & Sullivan technology innovation leader.
