Mobile Measurement and Attribution With a Built-In Ad Fraud Prevention Suite

Adjust is a mobile measurement and marketing analytics platform used by app publishers, game studios, and performance marketing teams to attribute installs and in-app events across paid channels. The Berlin-headquartered company, registered as Adjust GmbH, operates as part of AppLovin. Alongside attribution, deep linking, reporting, and audience tooling, it ships a Fraud Prevention Suite intended to stop fraudulent traffic from being credited to paid campaigns and from contaminating downstream marketing data.

Detection runs at two levels. Device-level rejection covers traffic where no real user engaged at all: SDK Signature cryptographically signs SDK-to-server requests using a proprietary mangling algorithm plus obfuscation and integrity checks, and the server discards anything unsigned or signed invalidly, while anonymous IP filtering cross-checks incoming traffic against known data centers, VPNs, and Tor exit nodes. Engagement fraud, where a genuine install follows a fabricated ad interaction, is handled separately.

Click injection filtering, available on Android, rejects clicks submitted after a download has already begun and runs in strict or normal modes; distribution modeling analyzes click frequency to exclude atypical patterns; behavioral anomaly and malformed advertising ID filters catch the remainder. Rejections surface in a protection dashboard broken down by filter, source, and time period. The positioning treats ad fraud as a data-integrity problem inside the attribution pipeline rather than a bolt-on security product.
