Managed Network Security and Edge Computing for Multi-Site Distributed Enterprises

Founded in 2002 and headquartered in Austin, Texas, Acumera delivers managed network security and edge connectivity to organizations that operate large numbers of small, remote sites. Its customers are multi-site merchants — convenience stores and fuel retailers above all, plus restaurants, retail chains, and healthcare operators — where payment systems sit in locations with no on-site IT staff. The company sells an outsourced alternative to building that capability in house.

The AcuVigil platform combines hardened edge appliances running SD-WAN and next-generation firewalling with a cloud dashboard that gives port-level visibility into every connection, device, and application across a fleet of sites. Network segmentation isolates the point-of-sale environment from the rest of the store network, continuous vulnerability scanning runs against it, and the AcuLink service brokers vendor remote access through ephemeral tunnels rather than standing credentials. A US-based network operations center monitors and troubleshoots around the clock.

Positioning rests on compliance depth in a narrow vertical: the firm is a Level 1 PCI certified service provider listed on the Visa and Mastercard global registries, and a certified managed network service provider for Gilbarco and Verifone point-of-sale systems — approvals that matter to fuel and convenience operators. A companion Reliant platform handles edge application orchestration and POS integration. In July 2025 the company acquired Scale Computing and adopted that name, folding virtualization and edge AI into the portfolio.
