Quantum-Resistant Encryption and Key Management Without Key Reuse

7Tunnels is a United States encryption technology company founded in 2015 and based in Park City, Utah, started by engineers and scientists whose careers ran through the Department of Defense, military organizations, and defense contractors. It aims at organizations whose data has a long secrecy requirement: trade secrets, intellectual property, financial records, customer information, and cryptocurrency platforms, where an adversary who records traffic today could decrypt it once quantum computing matures.

The approach attacks that harvest-now, decrypt-later problem by eliminating key reuse rather than by lengthening a single key. The company describes a configuration in which a two gigabyte system sustains one gigabit per second of transmission while never reusing an encryption key across an extremely long span of time. The method is patented and built to be embedded at different levels, into software, circuits, whole systems, or chips, so it can sit underneath applications that already exist.

Stated applications cover email, text messaging, streaming video, voice over IP calls, and file transfer, which spans data in motion as well as data held at rest. The company positions the technology as a fit for Zero Trust architecture and for multi-level security environments where different classifications share the same infrastructure, and markets it under the name Practical Absolute Secrecy. It reported completing testing of the implementation in July 2021 after several years of development.
