Privacy Proof Recognition
20face is a Dutch scale-up and spin-off of the University of Twente that builds facial recognition software with privacy engineered in from the start. Rather than treating biometrics as a surveillance tool, the company designs its technology around user consent and data protection, enabling organizations to verify identity and grant physical or logical access without compromising personal data.
The platform centers on two offerings: 20faceXS, a privacy-focused access-by-face solution for enterprises and government facilities, and 20faceSDK, a development kit that lets integrators embed facial recognition into their own applications. The underlying algorithms, developed in close collaboration with the University of Twente, deliver face detection, liveness detection, and mask detection with 99.85 percent benchmark accuracy and NIST-evaluated performance, and integrate with established access management systems across office, logistics, healthcare, high-security, and leisure environments.
What sets 20face apart is its privacy-proof architecture: recognition happens with the individual in control of enrollment and consent, aligning biometric convenience with European data protection expectations. That combination of speed, accuracy, and GDPR-conscious design makes it a distinctive choice for organizations that want frictionless, badge-free entry without the regulatory and reputational risk that typically shadows facial recognition deployments.
