AI Brand Protection Across Domains, Marketplaces, Social, and Web3
AppDetex is a digital brand protection company founded in 2012 by Faisal Shah and headquartered in Boise, Idaho, operating as Focus IP, Inc. It rebranded to Tracer in November 2022 and now sells under that name, while the Appdetex Registrar business continues to handle corporate domain registration. Its customers are enterprises defending trademarks and consumers against counterfeiting, online impersonation, phishing, and gray market selling; the site names MGA Entertainment, Revlon, Electronic Arts, Lyft, and SAP among them.
The core product, Tracer Protect, monitors thousands of digital platforms and uses machine vision, image recognition, and matching algorithms to identify infringing use of a brand across domains and websites, social media accounts, mobile app stores, online marketplaces, paid search and advertising, and NFT and Web3 channels. Tracer Graph, which the company describes as patented, connects individual detections into the networks behind them, so an enforcement action can target an operation rather than one listing. Findings roll into automated case files that drive takedowns.
Working at network level is the differentiator: counterfeit and impersonation operations typically run many storefronts, domains, and accounts at once, and removing one listing at a time achieves little. Coverage of NFT marketplaces and Web3 channels extended the same approach to newer surfaces, which the company announced in 2022. Tracer has raised roughly 37 million dollars across eight rounds. Its combination of detection, network mapping, enforcement workflow, and an in-house registrar keeps monitoring and remediation on a single platform.
